About

Dr. Lee Margetts is a Professor and United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Chair of Digital Engineering for Fusion Energy at The University of Manchester. He is also the Discipline Head of Education for Mechanical Engineering, leading the delivery of world leading undergraduate and postgraduate programmes attended by more than a thousand students. His research interests include high performance computing, artificial intelligence and extended reality, applied to the development of digital twins in the industrial metaverse. He has published research articles using a variety of numerical techniques applied across a broad range of application areas, from palaeontology to nuclear engineering. He has contributed to the development of high performance computing research infrastructure in Europe, as former Chair of the PRACE Industrial Advisory Committee. He currently supports technology transfer to industry as Chair of the NAFEMS High Performance Computing Working Group. He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the Association for Computing Machinery.
