Dr. Robert Read earned his degrees in economics from the Universities of Essex and Reading, UK. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in International Economics at the University of Lancaster. Before joining Lancaster, Dr. Read worked as an Economist for Unilever plc, the world's largest consumer goods company. His research spans a broad range of international economic policy issues, including developing economies, global trade policy, economic integration, international business, and foreign direct investment (FDI).
Dr. Read is recognized as a leading expert on small economies, with influential publications often co-authored with Professor Harvey W. Armstrong from the University of Sheffield. His pioneering empirical work on the determinants of growth performance in small economies has garnered significant attention. He has been a keynote speaker at numerous international conferences and has provided consultancy services to prominent organizations such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS), the UK Foreign Office, the Commonwealth, the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization.
