Professor Dr. Mohd Hafiz Hanafiah earned his PhD in Hotel and Tourism Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2016, where he was recognized with the Graduate on Time (GoT) and Research Excellence awards. UiTM is ranked as the top public university in Malaysia for hospitality and leisure subjects, according to the QS Subject ranking. He also holds the title of Certified Hotel Industry Analyst (CHIA).
Currently serving as Professor of Tourism Economics at UiTM's Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, Dr. Hafiz is also a Fellow at the Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development (IBSD). From 2018 to 2020, he was the President of the Tourism Educators Association of Malaysia (TEAM), and between 2019 and 2023, he was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) of Malaysia. He also served as Deputy Dean (Research & Industry Linkages) at UiTM from 2019 to 2023. His research, focusing on tourism demand, behavioral economics, and tourism competitiveness, has earned him multiple grants and recognition, including the 2020 UiTM Promising Researcher Award.
