About

Professor Kesseven D. Padachi currently Head of School, School of Business Management and
Finance at the University of Technology, Mauritius, has a long and rich career as a professional
accountant in industry and has served the University for nearly 24 years in various capacities.
He qualified as an ACCA in 1988 and became a fellow member in 1996. His 10 years of industry
experience as a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants has
proved instrumental in instilling the practical relevance of complex theories while delivering
lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. In 2004, he registered for a PhD and
was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in August 2010. Indeed, this was a triggering
point for him to proactively contribute to the research community which explains his active
involvement thereof.
His contribution to research has primarily been on SMEs, with emphasis on working capital
management. Through collaborative research he has, over the years, also branched out to
other areas of research in the field of finance, such as Capital Structure, Corporate
Governance, and Financial Development. Other areas include e-banking, financial literacy and
digital literacy. He has widely published in peer-reviewed journals; participated at
international conferences; co-chaired the reputed World Finance Conference in 2018;
involved in consultancy works as well as funded research projects as Principal Investigator
and Research Collaborators. His contribution to academia has been recognised by our African
counterparts and this has culminated to his appointment as Research Fellow at University of
South Africa. Since 2021 he is actively involved in collaborative research with the University
of Pretoria.
