Prof. Salah is currently an Emeritus Professor at the National Institute for Standards and Measurement (NIS), Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). He worked professor and former Head of the Engineering and Surface Metrology Department (ESML), Precision Engineering Division at the NIS from 2016 until 2019. He employed a full time Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Modern University of Technology and Information (MTI) since October 2019. From 2022 to todate, he employed as a full time Professor and Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the Pyramids Higher Institute of Engineering and Technology (PHI). In August 2024, he employing as a Vice Dean of the Pyramids Higher Institute of Engg and Tech (PHI).

Salah Ali was born in March 1960 in the village of Melig, middle of the Nile Delta, Egypt. He obtained his Bachelor’s (BSc) and Master’s (MSc) degrees in the Science of Mechanical Engineering (Automotive and Tractors) from the Faculty of Engineering, Helwan University (HU). He received his PhD in Advanced Environmentally Friendly Engineerd Materials from the Department of Mechanical Design and Production Engineering at Cairo University (CU), through the invention of new engg materials for the automotive industries in 2003.

Dr. Salah participates as a professor and academic advisor for several MSc and PhD degrees students in Cairo, Ain Shams and Helwan Universities. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students at Saudi colleges of Technology and Egyptian universities as CU, HU, MUST, MTI, ACU and PHI (1993-Now). Moreover, he have previous professional experience in the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, Al-Azhar Univ, Mercedes Benz Co (NATCO) and Arab American Vehicle Co (AAV, Cherokee),(1985-92). He has been involved and work in funded projects from CU and Egy Scientific Research Academy at MOHESR. In addition to, research cooperation projects with academic researchers in national and international entities.

Dr.Salah has published more than 112 research papers in peer-reviewed journals/conferences in the areas of precision engineering, advanced coordinate and surface metrology, modern industries, sensors and mechatronics, agile manufacturing, automotive engg and tribology, smart materials and nanotech, ISO standards, validation and verification methods, FEA with 3D design, 3D printing, Entrepreneurship; Evaluation & development of engineering curriculum program. He was the winner of 2 Best Paper Awards.

He has published four scientific books, one book in the USA and Canada entitled “Automotive Engine Metrology", which received the UK CPD Standards Certificate. In addiation to two other books published in Egypt. He has published two chapters and co-authored another international book entitled "Implementing Coordinate Metrology". He holds three patents in mechatronic system (Auto fuel injection systems), new engg material and computerized coordinate measurement system.

Dr. Salah reviewed many scientific research papers in international periodicals/conferences, drafts Egyptian standards, research projects within the protocol of Egyptian-foreign cooperation. He participated in the arbitration and discussion of MSc and PhD theses inside and outside Egypt. He participated in the arbitration of the permanent committees for promotions. He has participation as a Chief Editor, Assoc Editor and Editorial board member in many international scientific journals.

On the other hand, he has several contributions in technical training, writing press essays, translation and simplifying the science. Than, he published more than 45 press essay and various media awareness meetings to support the outputs of teaching and scientific research as a contribution to the dissemination of knowledge, technical awareness, and strengthens the scientific culture of the Egyptian, Arab and International communities to push development and increase the quality of production and the welfare of society. In 2014, moreover Dr. Salah elected as a member of the National Committee for theoretical and applied mechanics at the Egyptian academy of scientific research and technology; he also elected secretary of the council.

Dr. Salah is a fellow and member in local and international scientific societies such as Egyptian Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME) and American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International); Japan Society of Automotive Engineers (JSAE). He participated in the establishment of institutions and associations to serve civil society, such as the Egypt Innovate institution and the Consumer Education and Culture society. He has been an invited and participate a sessions chair and opening keynote speaker in several international conferences.

Dr. Salah has over 37 years of experience in academic and technical teaching, applied research, and industry expertise. Through his career, he has received numerous international and local awards in recognition of his significant contributions to his field.


His current general interest includes always seeking to: maximize the utilization of available resources in creative ways, support others and promote the interests of society. Moreover, he strives spreads the awareness of Engineering and Metrology Sciences including Automation and Robotics to improve the quality of life for people.

Recent Highlights (Achievements):
 Effective contribution to the development of the Mechatronics Engineering Program according to two plans (short- and long-term) with maximizing the activation of the quality system during his management of the program at the Pyramids Higher Institute for Engineering and technology from 2022 until 2024.
 Effective contribution to preparation the study plan (CHours) for the Mechatronics Engineering Program, Pyramids Higher Institute of Engineering and technology
 Activating the quality system during his presidency of the ESML Dept for into five-year plans for develop the training, maintenance, and comparisons to obtain local accreditation and international recognition (already been completed in 2020)
 Effective contribution in the implementation of the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering, MTI University, 2019/2021
 Maximize the utilization of the available resources and possibilities of the ESML Dept, achieving the largest income from the activities since its inception, which amounted to about Two Million Egyptian pounds in 2017 and more than Two Million in 2018.
 Effective contribution in the implementation for the vision and tasks of the National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Egypt, 2014-2017
 Participation in a number of scientific and research projects locally and internationally. Where, he formed the first research team in Egypt for CNTs production, characterization and its applications, since 2007, as documented in UK journal in nanotechnology.
 He is one of the first Arab researchers who talked and wrote about green hydrogen and hydrogen cars since 2000, as documented in the King Fahd Library in the KSA
 Representation NIS and Egypt in many distinguished international scientific missions and forums (USA, Canada, Germany, Poland, China, India, Saudi Arabia; Kuwait)
