About

Career: Recipient of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship and PhD researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research IFW Dresden, Germany (2011-2016) with research visits at KU Leuven and University of Vienna. Postdoc at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (2017-2018). Joined KU Leuven in 2018 as industry-funded postdoctoral researcher. FWO senior postdoctoral fellow from 2020 to 2023 with a research stay at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France). Since 2023 tenure-track assistant professor in Materials Engineering at KU Leuven.
Research: Microstructural design of metals and alloys and establishing the relationship between material synthesis, thermomechanical processing, and macroscopic properties. Use of (in-situ) X-ray diffraction methods to better understand the link between internal mechanisms and material performance during mechanical loading or during heat treatments. Tailoring material behavior via phase selection and crystallographic texture, with specific focus on mastering thermal expansion.
