About
Mário Garrido holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (2016) from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon, having spent two years (2012, 2015) as a guest at the Composite Construction Laboratory (CCLab) of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He is a Researcher in the research unit CERIS of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment of IST, and a member of its Composites Research Group (CORE Group, http://coregroup.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/). He conducts research on advanced fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite systems for civil engineering applications, focusing on their sustainability, durability and long-term performance, as well as aspects relating to their mechanical behaviour, connection technology, and fire behaviour. Mário Garrido has participations in 8 research projects (2 ongoing), having been the Principal Investigator of the EcoComposite project and coordinator of the BioLam project. He is supervisor or co-supervisor of 5 PhD theses (4 ongoing) and 15 MSc dissertations (3 ongoing), and has authored or co-authored 32 papers in WoS/SCI-indexed journals and 45 conference communications. He has also collaborated in several advanced consultancy studies in different domains. Mário Garrido is a Member of the technical committee WG4 of CT115 (CEN), participating in the revision and drafting of the document "Design of fibre-polymer composite structures" (CEN/TS 19101, CEN/TC250).
