Dr. Rakesh Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Science at the Central University of Karnataka, India, specializing in molecular plant developmental biology for crop improvement. With a PhD from the University of Hyderabad and a research foundation built as an alumnus of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), his work focuses on bridging the gap between fundamental plant science and applied agricultural enhancement.

Dr. Kumar’s expertise lies in the integration of high-throughput genomics and multi-OMICS platforms. He has extensive experience in employing functional genomics tools such as mutagenesis, TILLING, and Eco-TILLING, alongside transcriptomics, QTL-seq, and gene discovery workflows. Furthermore, Dr. Kumar utilizes advanced LC-MS and GC-MS based proteomics and metabolomics to decipher complex biological traits. Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has successfully managed research projects funded by both national and international agencies. His contributions to the scientific community include numerous high-impact research papers and reviews, as well as serving as an editor for technical volumes published by Springer Nature and the Institute of Physics.
