The Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence is a multidisciplinary, student-centric research university founded in 2011 by Shiv Nadar, one of India’s foremost philanthropists and pioneer of the technological revolution. Within just a decade, the university has established a new benchmark for higher education in India, earning the distinction of being the youngest Institution of Eminence recognized by the Government of India.

At Shiv Nadar, we champion innovative curricula designed and led by faculty from some of the world’s top institutions. With a low faculty-student ratio, our students receive personalized mentorship, fostering academic success and intellectual growth.
Our mission is to cultivate a deep passion for research from the undergraduate level. We were the first university in India to introduce a four-year multidisciplinary research degree, allowing students to pursue a major while exploring diverse electives across disciplines. The Opportunities for Undergraduate Research (OUR) program enables students to undertake research projects beyond their primary field of study, driven purely by curiosity and interest.
Fostering Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence is a hub for innovation. The Atal Incubation Center (AIC), established in 2017 under the Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog, provides world-class facilities, spread across 10,000 sq. ft. to support budding entrepreneurs. Our commitment to interdisciplinary research is further strengthened through initiatives like the Faculty Grant for Interdisciplinary Research (FGIR) program, promoting collaboration across schools.

Beyond academics, the university offers a vibrant ecosystem of extracurricular activities, including- Music, Dance, & Literature Clubs, Sports & Fitness Initiatives, Community Service, & Leadership Programs. Sustainability Initiatives
Shiv Nadar University is deeply committed to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and biodiversity protection, embedding them into our academic mission and institutional practices. Nearly every department offers sustainability-focused courses and conducts research in key areas like Energy, Environment, Data & Computation, Cognition, and Behaviour.
Our 286-acre biodiverse campus serves as a “living lab”, home to 10,000 trees, 700 plant species, and 125 bird species. We actively promote environmental sustainability through green infrastructure, solar power expansion, biowaste composting, energy conservation, and waste treatment initiatives.
Additionally, we support sustainable agriculture, monitor food wastage, and address hunger in local communities through advocacy and engagement.
Recognizing our dedication, the UN Academic Impact has appointed Shiv Nadar University as the Global Co-Chair for SDG 6, acknowledging our leadership in water sustainability and responsible resource management.
