About

Antonio Brogi is a full professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pisa
(Italy) since 2004, where he leads the Service-Oriented, Cloud and Fog Computing
research group.
Since November 2020, he isthe coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Computer Science
at the Universities of Pisa, Florence, and Siena.
Previously, he was an associate professor (1998-2004) and assistant professor (1993-
1998) at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pisa. From August 1994 to
August 1995, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Computer Science, UCLA
(USA). He also spent research stays at the University of Malaga (Spain), Universidade Nova
de Lisboa (Portugal), and Universidad de San Antonio Abad de Cuzco (Peru). He holds a
Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (1993, University of Pisa).
His research interests include software engineering, symbolic artificial intelligence, CloudEdge computing, sustainability and ICT, and quantum software engineering. He has
published his research results in around 300 papers in international journals and
conferences. His H-index as of June 2025 is 41 according to Google Scholar.
He is currently an editorial board member of the journals “Heliyon Computer Science,”
“Journal of Computer Languages,” “Electronics” and “International Journal on Advances
of Software.” He has been a co-editor of several special issues of international journals
and has participated in the program committee of various international conferences and
workshops in his research areas (see http://pages.di.unipi.it/brogi/).
He has participated in various international and national research projects, both as
project leader and principal investigator for his department. He is coordinating the UNIPIPRA project "hOlistic Sustainable Management of distributed softWARE systems
(OSMWARE)" and he recently led the innovative experiment “LiSCIo: Lightweight Selfadaptive Cloud-IoT Monitoring across Fed4FIRE+ Testbeds” for the European project
Fed4FIRE+. He is currently coordinating the UNIPI-PRA project “hOlistic Sustainable
Management of distributed softWARE systems (OSMWARE).” He is one of the founding
members of “IFIP Working Group on Service-oriented Systems” (WG 2.14,6.12 and 8.10).
He has made invited presentations at conferences (most recently at the SISTEDES 2023
conference), doctoral schools and foreign universities. He has received several awards as
co-author of conference “best papers” (most recent at ICSOC 2023, ICSOFT 2023, CLOSER
2023 conferences)
