Prof. Efrén Mezura-Montes is the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute at the University of Veracruz, MEXICO. His research interests include designing, analyzing, and applying bio-inspired algorithms to solve complex computational learning and optimization problems. He has published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, three edited books, and more than 12 book chapters with international publishing companies. Google Scholar reports over 11,700 citations from his work.
Prof. Mezura-Montes is an Associate Editor of the following journals: “IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation,” “IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence,” “Swarm and Evolutionary Computation,” “Computers and Electrical Engineering,” “International Journal of Data Science and Analytics,” the “International Journal of Dynamics and Control.” and the Cureus Journal of Computer Science. He is also an Editorial Board Member of the journals “Complex & Intelligent Systems,” and “Mathematical and Computational Applications”.
Prof. Mezura-Montes is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Evolutionary Computation Technical Committee and the founder of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society task force on Nature-Inspired Constrained Optimization. He is also a member of the IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society Soft Computing Technical Committee.
Prof. Mezura-Montes is a Level III Mexican National Researchers System (SNII) member. He is also a regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC), a former Board of Directors, and now a regular member of the Mexican Computing Academy (AMEXCOMP). He is also president of the Mexican Computer Science Society (SMCC) and a Technical Committee member of the Mexican Collaboration Network on Applied Computational Intelligence.
