Derek Chan Juinn Chieh is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). His work focuses on microalgae cultivation technology, phytoremediation, plant and algal cell-culture systems, and the production and purification of proteins and peptides from biological sources. He has contributed to research on algal biofilms, organic matter interactions, and sustainable biomolecule extraction, and has led several funded projects involving microalgae behavior in membrane systems and bio-adhesion.
