Dr. Xiaohao Sun (孙潇昊) is currently now a Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was recognized as one of the top 2% scientists by Stanford in 2024, 2025 and received an International Geneva Invention Awards in 2021. His research interest includes biomineralization for marine corrosion inhibition, bio-cementation for sand and dust storm control, recycled concrete and global decarbonization. Dr. Sun has published over 60 academic papers, with more than 40 as the first author/corresponding author in top international journals such as Advanced Science, Environmental Science & Technology (ACS), Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering (ASCE), and Cement & Concrete Composites. His research work has received several awards such as Best Research Paper, Cover Paper, and Highly Cited Paper. He also serves as an editorial board member for international journals such as The Innovation, International Journal of Mining Science and Technology, ICE-environmental geotechnics, and Biogeotechnics.
