Dr. Hupenyu Allan Mupambwa is the current Head of the Sam Nujoma Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (SANUMARC) at the University of Namibia, where he also serves as a senior researcher leading desert and coastal agriculture research. He holds a PhD in Soil Science from the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, specializing in organic soil fertility management, an MSc in Agriculture (2012) focusing on soil physical properties in conservation agriculture systems, and a BSc in Crop Science from the University of Zimbabwe. With over 17 years of experience in government agricultural research, training, and university teaching, Dr. Mupambwa has made significant contributions to advancing sustainable crop-based agriculture. His research centres on waste beneficiation, vermicomposting, and organic soil fertility management, with the overarching goal of improving soil quality and promoting resilience among resource-poor farmers. To date, he has published 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, 27 book chapters, and 3 edited books, and he has successfully supervised and examined several MSc and PhD students in agronomy and soil science. Beyond research and teaching, he has led multiple national and regional research projects and consultancies in Namibia. Professionally, Dr. Mupambwa is actively engaged in international scholarly networks as a reviewer for high-impact journals published by Elsevier and Springer, earning recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer by Elsevier. His professional footprint continues to grow across Africa and beyond through collaborative research, postgraduate mentorship, and active participation in knowledge-sharing platforms.
