About
Dr. Becky Aloo is a Microbiologist and Lecturer at the University of Eldoret in Kenya. She holds a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and a PhD in Life Science (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management). Her current research focuses on rhizobacteria and how they enhance plant growth, soil health, and resilience to abiotic stress, which are key components of agricultural sustainability and environmental health. Some of her work has focused on how climate change and agrochemicals impact beneficial soil microbiomes in agricultural ecosystems, antibiotic resistance, and environmental contaminants of emerging concern. She has also contributed to several scholarly book chapters addressing climate-smart agriculture, sustainable food production, and ecosystem restoration. She has widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has attracted over 880 citations. She is also a reviewer and review editor for several scientific journals and a guest editor for several research topics in different journals. Her scientific excellence has earned her various international recognitions, including the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award, the Africa-German Network for Excellence in Science, the African Science Leadership Program Fellowship, and the Green Talents Award for high potentials in sustainability research. She is currently the Vice-Chair and Co-founder of the Kenya Science Leadership Program (Ke-SLP) and Board Member for the Scientists of Kenya Association.
