About
Dr. Annam Pavan Kumar is a Principal Scientist at ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR–CIFE), Mumbai, with over 17 years of research experience in fisheries, genetics, molecular taxonomy, phylogenetics, and biodiversity genomics. His work has significantly advanced understanding of aquatic genetic resources through the discovery of novel fish species, development of species-specific DNA barcodes, and design of molecular markers such as SNPs, SSRs, and HRM profiles for commercially important and threatened fishes. He has also contributed to the genome and transcriptome characterization of economically valuable and invasive aquatic species, facilitating conservation, management, and traceability applications. Dr. Kumar has led and collaborated on multiple externally funded national projects and has published more than 60 research papers in reputed international journals, reflecting his sustained contribution to fisheries molecular biology and aquatic biodiversity genomics.
