Dr. Deepak Agarwal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries Biotechnology at the Institute of Fisheries Post Graduate Studies, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University OMR Campus, Chennai. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science from GBPUA&T Pantnagar, and a Master's and Doctorate in Fish Biotechnology from the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai. His research interests include functional genomics, transcriptomics, and computational biology, with an overall focus on Aquaculture biotechnology. He has successfully completed an externally funded research project on climate-resilient aquaculture in pearl spot fish, addressing the molecular and physiological mechanisms that enable adaptation to climate-induced stress. He has received several prestigious honors, including the Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal, Best Dissertation Award, Young Researcher and Young Scientist Award. He has participated in numerous national and international seminars, workshops, and conferences. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed research articles, more than 15 popular articles, 5 books, and several book chapters and monographs. As a committed academic and researcher, he has guided many postgraduate and Ph.D. students and contributed significant datasets to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). He also serves as a reviewer for several reputed scientific journals.
