Dr. Eliezer Avila Gandra is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), Brazil, with a solid academic background in Food Science and Technology. He holds a PhD and an MSc in Food Science and Technology from UFPel and a bachelor's degree in food engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). His career includes extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic administration across undergraduate, graduate, and specialization programs. His research focuses on food microbiology, food biotechnology, microbiological control, agro-industrial hygiene, and the identification and application of bioactive substances in foods. He coordinates the Laboratory of Food Science and Food Microbiology (LACIMA) and has received several academic awards, including postgraduate highlight awards and recognition for highly cited publications. He has served on multiple university councils and committees, contributing to curriculum development, research ethics, laboratory management, and program administration.
