Sara Canas is Coordinator Researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária/National Institute for Agrarian and Veterinary Research - INIAV (since 2023) and Coordinator of the research hub “Polo de Inovação de Dois Portos” of INIAV (since 2021). She has Habilitation in Food Engineering (2017), PhD in Food Engineering (2003), MSc in Viticulture and Enology (1997) and BS (5 years) in Agronomy (1990) by Instituto Superior de Agronomia/University of Lisbon. For the last 29 years, she has been carrying out extensive research on spirit beverages, cooperage technology, wood used in oenology, phenolic composition, antioxidant activity, HPLC, development and validation of analytical methods, sensory analysis of spirit beverages, which served as the basis of her PhD and Habilitation.
