Dr. Angela Oyilieze Akanwa is an Associate Professor, registered town planner, and interdisciplinary environmental scholar specializing in climate resilience, environmental management, and socio-ecological and health vulnerabilities in sub-Saharan Africa. Her research examines climate-induced flooding, displacement, and health impacts, with strong emphasis on gender, community participation, and intersectional risks. She applies mixed, participatory, and spatial approaches to support inclusive adaptation and policy-relevant outcomes. Dr. Akanwa has published widely with Springer, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis, and has supervised postgraduate research across environmental and sustainability fields. A former Head of Department at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, she led successful accreditation processes and earned the highest faculty citation impact in 2024. She was selected by the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps for a two-year academic assignment in Rwanda, contributing to teaching, research collaboration, and institutional capacity development.
