Gaurav completed his undergraduate education from the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), Delhi, India, and followed it with MS & PhD from the Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, US. He completed his post-doctoral research at the University of Delaware. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi, India. He also holds the administrative responsibilities of Head of Department and Associate Dean (Academics, West Campus). He was formerly associated with the Sharda University as Associate Professor and Dept. Head.
Gaurav's research focuses on sustainability (sustainable materials and processes) and pollution & Health. These aspects are addressed through a combination of field surveys, experimental work, and modeling. He has successfully guided 02 PhD theses and 49 Master's level dissertations. He has also been awarded 15 Indian Patents and overall 35 IPRs in India.
He serves as an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports and was recognized by the Editorial Excellence Award, 2025. Gaurav also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for 30+ international journals. He has also been associated with different government/regulatory agencies for the formulation of regulatory standards and guidelines.
