Dr. Zulnaidi Yaacob is a distinguished academic and higher education leader at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where he has served since 2008. He holds a PhD in Management Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia, an AACSB-accredited institution. Throughout his career, he has held several pivotal academic and administrative positions, including Chairperson of the Academic Program for Management, Deputy Dean, Director of the Entrepreneurship Center, and currently, Dean of the School of Distance Education. These roles have equipped him with deep expertise in academic leadership, curriculum development, institutional governance, and quality assurance.
Dr. Zulnaidi is widely recognized for his commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. He has received numerous accolades at USM, including the Best Teacher Award, the Most Active and Innovative E-Learning Portal Award, and the Best Mentor in Entrepreneurship Award. His pedagogical practices—emphasising innovation, engagement, and reflective learning—have been documented in a Scopus-indexed journal. He has taught extensively beyond Malaysia as a visiting lecturer in countries such as Australia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Thailand, China, and India, delivering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in institutions including Newcastle University, Universitas Terbuka, Prince of Songkla University, Hebei University, Universitas Airlangga, and Rajagiri Business School. His teaching approach harnesses technology to create interactive and collaborative learning environments.
He currently teaches courses in accounting, financial statement analysis, innovation, and entrepreneurship. With considerable experience in curriculum development and academic advisory, Dr. Zulnaidi has contributed as a program reviewer, curriculum advisor, and academic auditor for various institutions in Malaysia and abroad. His expertise is frequently sought by vocational colleges, polytechnics, and universities.
As a prolific researcher, Dr. Zulnaidi has authored over 200 scholarly works, including journal articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, and professional publications. He has 28 publications indexed in Scopus. His research interests span entrepreneurship, accounting, innovation, and management education, often in collaboration with scholars from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. His work bridges theory and practice, contributing to policy development, institutional reform, and advancements in pedagogy.
Dr. Zulnaidi is also actively involved in academic publishing. He serves on editorial boards and reviews for several journals. Beyond academia, Dr. Zulnaidi has served as a speaker, consultant, and advisor to government agencies and industry stakeholders. He has collaborated with organisations. These engagements reflect his strong commitment to leveraging academic insights to support national development, entrepreneurship ecosystems, and effective policy implementation.
