Prof. Li Yuan earned her Ph.D. and completed her postdoctoral research at the Technical University Berlin (TU Berlin). She is Head of the Department of European Languages and Director of the Institute for German Studies at Zhejiang University. She has won Goethe Medal from Germany and is an Ambassadar Scientist of AvH-Foundation. She serves as Vice Chair of the German Sub-Committee under the Foreign Language and Literature Teaching Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education and as Director of the National Center for the Professional Development of German Teachers. Sie ist also a Leading Talent of Zhejiang Province. Her research interests include German linguistics, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, and smart education.
She has led or participated in over 30 research projects, published 24 books (including edited and translated works), authored 9 textbooks, and contributed to nearly 140 journal papers. She constructed of the world’s largest learner corpus of German (CDLK) and is the co-developer of Dr. Write, an intelligent feedback system for German writing based on large language models.
Professor Li has received numerous awards, including the First Prize of Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, the Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, a case award from the National Language Commission’s Key Field Language Technology Empowerment Innovation Project, and the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award.
She serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, such as Zielsprache Deutsch, Interkulturelles Forum deutsch-chinesischer Kommunikation, Literaturstraße, Germanistische Studien zur chinesischen Kultur, German Humanities Research, and Deutsche Monatshefte, and is the column editor of Jahrbuch für internationale Germanistik (A&HCI).
