Prof. Sameh Heikal is a Professor of Microbiology at the School of Biotechnology, Nile University, Egypt. His research focuses on microbial biotechnology, plant–microbe interactions, agricultural biotechnology, and environmental sustainability, with particular emphasis on beneficial microorganisms, microbial genomics, and sustainable bioremediation. He has extensive experience in microbial genetic resources, having supervised the Department of Microbial Genetic Resources at Egypt’s National Gene Bank and contributed to the establishment of a culture collection comprising more than 1,000 identified microbial strains. His research has been supported by national and international organizations, and he has established collaborations with universities and research institutions across more than 15 countries. His work integrates microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture, and environmental science within a One Health framework, with the aim of translating microbial research into innovative and sustainable solutions.
