About

Dr. Elena G. Olson is a microbiologist and Research Scientist II at the University of Wisconsin–Madison whose work bridges food safety, microbial ecology, animal production, and applied microbiome science. She leads collaborative research focused on understanding and managing microbial communities, foodborne pathogens, and host–microbiome–environment interactions, particularly within poultry production systems. Her research incorporates microbiology, metagenomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and statistical analysis to translate complex microbial data into practical strategies for improving food safety and animal production. In addition to her academic research, Dr. Olson is the founder of Supreme EGO LLC and collaborates with industry and academic partners on research development, experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific communication. She is an active author, peer reviewer, mentor, and contributor to scientific editorial initiatives.
